From Taking Initiative to Leading Change: My Journey at ComputerTalk

by Jean-Nicolas Robitaille | Published On November 20, 2025

Ten years ago, I joined ComputerTalk as a junior project manager, eager to learn and contribute. Looking back, I realize how pivotal that decision was for my career. ComputerTalk provided the perfect environment for growth—one that values trust, collaboration, and innovation.

A Culture that Encourages Initiative

From the start, I felt the company’s confidence in its people. I was encouraged to take initiative without fear of failure. That freedom allowed me to experiment, learn, and improve. Senior colleagues were not only experts in their fields but also generous mentors. Their guidance helped me quickly become efficient and independent in my role.

One of the most empowering aspects of working at ComputerTalk is the absence of negative pressure. When an idea didn’t work out, it was treated as a learning opportunity rather than a setback. This culture gave me the confidence to introduce new processes and standards within the project management team. Over time, these initiatives strengthened our operations and eventually led me to a leadership position within the department.

After seven years, I felt ready for a new challenge. I approached Human Resources (HR) about transitioning into product management—a significant shift in responsibilities. Their response was nothing short of amazing. HR was open, supportive, and worked closely with me to make the transition smooth. Since then, I’ve continued to grow in this role, collaborating with HR and leadership to refine the product management team and drive initiatives that improve our business.

A Company That Invests in Its People

What makes ComputerTalk exceptional is its unwavering commitment to employee development. The company doesn’t just allow you to take initiative—it actively encourages it. Whether you’re introducing a new process, exploring a different career path, or leading a strategic project, you have the full support of a team that believes in your potential.

Ten years into my career here and I’m still excited about what’s ahead. ComputerTalk is more than a workplace; it’s a community that invests in its people and empowers them to succeed. For anyone looking for a company that values innovation, collaboration, and personal growth, ComputerTalk is the place to be.
