“I Wanted a New Challenge” - How I Grew My Career at ComputerTalk

Over the years, I've build a rewarding career at ComputerTalk by embracing new challenges and evolving from technical roles to client-focused ones that push me to grow everyday.

Where It All Began: A Hands-On Start in QA 

When I started at ComputerTalk, I joined the QA team on a project for one of our customers. My main responsibility was to perform detailed testing on a brand-new workflow for their IVR system. It was a hands-on role that gave me deep insight into how voice applications are built and fine-tuned — from call flows to user interactions. That experience really laid the foundation for everything that came after. 

Taking the Leap into Client-Facing Roles 

Over time, I moved into more client-facing roles, first as a Project Manager and then as an Account Manager. That transition wasn’t accidental — I was actively looking for a new challenge, something that would push me in a different direction professionally. I wanted to step outside of my technical comfort zone and explore the relationship side of the business: understanding client needs, building trust, and helping them navigate solutions. 

Becoming an Account Manager came with a whole new set of responsibilities. I was no longer just focused on the technical side — I now had to manage expectations, anticipate problems before they arose, and represent both the client’s interests and the company’s capabilities. It challenged me to become a better communicator, a better listener, and a more strategic thinker. There were definitely some growing pains, but those challenges helped me develop a much broader perspective — not just on technology, but on people and business as a whole. Looking back, it was one of the most transformative shifts in my career. 

Throughout the years, I’ve worked with partners and customers across industries — from healthcare to government — and across regions, from Canada’s West Coast all the way to Europe. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to help clients find solutions that actually make a difference in their operations. Some of the relationships I’ve built go back over a decade, and there’s something special about that continuity — still collaborating with people I first met years ago. 

A Team Like No Other 

One of the aspects I value most at ComputerTalk is the diversity in our team — not just culturally, but generationally. We have people who’ve been in the industry for 30+ years working alongside fresh grads who bring new energy and ideas. That mix really keeps things dynamic.  

And after more than two decades here, what still excites me is the company’s spirit. It’s a place where curiosity is encouraged, where you're given space to grow, and where sharing knowledge is just part of the culture. That kind of energy — where you’re always both teaching and learning — is what keeps me here.
